Born and raised in Danville, I literally grew up in Ben David Jewelers which has been in my family since 1959. My first memory of the store was that my Dad sold record players, lava lamps, and luggage. My first job was making bows for the Christmas season. This was a great way to learn a hard work ethic, as I must have made thousands! During high school, I worked at the store after school and have done almost every job imaginable within the store since then. My favorite job was, and has always been, helping customers.
When I'm not at work, I enjoy spending time with my family including my wonderful wife Cheryl and our three amazing children. I love snow skiing, traveling and all things Bruce Springsteen. I have been privileged to learn the jewelry business from my father and feel fortunate to get to work with my brother Leon.
I love the jewelry business. Practically everyone that walks into our store is celebrating something and I'm excited to help get the party started. This is something I've enjoyed since I was little as I was raised in the store. My parents used to stand me on a box to clean the cases when I was about six. All through Junior High and High School, I worked in the store after classes.
My first big job at Ben David's was head engraver. At the time, we had the largest trophy department in the area and I probably engraved every bowling trophy in Danville from 1969 to 1974. I received my formal jewelry training in Washington, DC while working for friends in the business.
During my time in Washington, I met and married Jackie, my bride of over 30 years. I have two grown children, Jordan and Julia, and will soon be a proud grandfather. When I’m not in the store waiting on the greatest customers in the world, I like to fish, ski, play golf and travel. Come visit us soon and start your next celebration with me.
Alan is a Master Jeweler with over 33 years of bench experience under his belt. He has been with Ben David Jewelers for a combined 10 years and is truly one of our biggest assets. Apart from the everyday jewelry repairs such as sizing, setting stones and soldering items, Alan also has the ability to design jewelry, carve waxes and cast each piece right here in our store. He takes your ideas and brings them to life.
In his spare time Alan loves salt water, beaches and fishing.
I have been with Ben David Jewelers for the last 21 years. I manage the accounting, bookkeeping, and collections for our store. I have done just about everything there is to do here and continue to learn and grow. My 28 year-old son Kevin is married, works at BWX, and lives in Rustburg, VA. I have three fur babies: Peaches, a three year old toy poodle; Dusty Blue, a two year old Lynx Point Siamese; and Jazzy, a ten year old gray, long-haired cat that loves the outdoors and is my wild child. We spend most evenings and weekends on the back patio just enjoying the flowers and watching birds. I consider Mark, Leon, and my co-workers here at Ben David to be part of my extended family. It is great to work somewhere where everyone truly cares about their customers and staff.
I have been in the jewelry business for 32 years. I love what I do! It is so much fun meeting people and making life-long friendships. It is a blessing to be a part of so many happy occasions in their lives.
In my spare time, I serve as a board member of the Community Storehouse in Martinsville and am very blessed to attend an awesome church in Martinsville.
I have been employed at Ben David Jewelers for 35 years. I have had the opportunity to do just about everything there is to do in the company, but my love and passion is sales. In this career, I have had the opportunity to meet wonderful people and to be a part of many special moments in their lives.
My husband Billy and I have been married for 16 years. Between the two of us, we have five children and many grandchildren to love and spoil. I am very active in my church and enjoy both singing in the choir and teaching in our children's church. I am very proud and fortunate to work for such great employers and with wonderful co-workers.

I absolutely LOVE working at Ben David Jewelers. I could not ask for a better place to work. I truly enjoy the one on one connection I have with the customers here. The people that work here are absolutely awesome as well as the customers who come in. Its very gratifying when a customer leaves here with a big smile on their face and you know you helped make that happen.
When I'm not working I spend most of my time with my beautiful baby girl and my adoring fiance'. I also enjoy taking trips to the mountains when I can. I love the beautiful scenery and hiking up the many trails. Another true joy of mine is shopping!
I've been in the Inventory Department at Ben David Jewelers for 14 years. Some of my responsibilities include placing orders, shipping and receiving, and working closely with the vendors and sales associates on custom designs and special orders to ensure our customers the best service available. It's a great place to work.
On a more personal note, I am married to a wonderful man, Mike Bates. Between us, we have three great kids and three sweet grandchildren. When we are not at work, we enjoy spending time together with our family. We are also very active in our church and appreciate all of God's abundant blessings in our lives.
I love working here at Ben David Jewelers. Ever since I've been here, everyone has been so helpful and I'm very fortunate to call them my family. I love working with jewelry and seeing all of the beautiful pieces that go in and out of here. I sell a lot of Pandora and Alex and Ani amongst many other name brand jewelry pieces.
I am active in church, love spending time outdoors, and enjoy spending quality time with my friends and family. I hope I will be able to assist you in the best way I can to make your experience here the most memorable!
I love working for Ben David Jewelers. I could not have imagined a better job. I'm more than glad to be apart of this work family because everyone is very loving!
I'm currently going to school at Patrick Henry Community College. I'm studying to become an Occupational Therapist Assistant. I love helping people on their path to recovery. When I'm not at work or school I spend my time with family and friends.
From the first time I walked in Ben David, I knew I would love to have a job here. After graduating, I realized that nothing would make me happier than seeing others happy. That's exactly what I see everyday at Ben David. I see memories be made. I am truly blessed to be given this opportunity and will always do my best to make sure each and every customer leaves with a smile on their face. I'm proud to say that I'm a part of the Ben David family!
Just a little bit about me when I'm not at Ben David. I love spending time with my family, hunting, or hanging out with friends. I am an alumni of Liberty University where I majored in Psychology of Human Services. Working at Ben David has made me see just how much I love interacting with people and learning about them.
