July 4th Proposal With Megan & Cory Features Gorgeous Vistas And Awesome Photography

By: Kelly York

We hope you had a wonderful 4th of July! What a fabulous day to enjoy the outdoors, stoke up the barbeque, and cherish some special times with family and friends. Oh, and for a lucky few, it's also a great day for a surprise marriage proposal. This video shot one year ago may provide some inspiration. It features a montage of gorgeous video footage and excellent still photography set to Kina Grannis' romantic "Valentine." It's a beautiful piece of work documenting the beginning of a beautiful relationship between Megan and Cory. This is how Cory described the scene in a YouTube caption...
Here's the video of our proposal. We headed down to San Diego for the weekend and took a trip to Coronado Island Saturday night. We ate a delicious dinner and headed over to Centennial Park, overlooking downtown San Diego, to take some photos.
While we were there, I tricked my girlfriend into thinking I was taking her picture. I set the camera to video mode and hit record. Meanwhile, I had a friend hanging around in the background taking pictures of the entire event. It was 4th of July weekend and the park was pretty crowded, so when people saw what was happening, they all began to clap and cheer us on.
After the proposal, we took some photos in the sunset, and then I had another surprise set up for her. We walked around the corner where I had another friend set up a dessert picnic, just like our first date. We watched the sun go down over San Diego Bay while we sipped champagne and ate chocolate cake.
